Clear Waters, Clearer Heart

Blog Entry 18 * 5-19-22

Today, I stopped by one of the coolest lakes in Oregon, called Clear Lake. It definitely lived up to its name. Standing on the dock, I looked down through 30 to 40 feet of perfectly transparent water. I could see all the way to the bottom. Large fish glided calmly through the deeper blue, while smaller fish played closer to the surface. It felt like watching an entire world exist peacefully just below the stillness.

It was such a cool experience to witness water this clear. There was something about it that felt sacred, almost instructional like nature was offering a quiet teaching.

As I stood there, I began to feel like the lake was mirroring something deeper in my own practice. Just as the lake was undisturbed and clear enough to see straight through, I began to reflect on how meditation can bring that kind of inner clarity. When the mind is calm and the heart is soft, the deeper truths beneath the surface of consciousness begin to show themselves.

There was no need to stir the water. The clarity came from stillness. Krishna’s presence felt nearby—not in some dramatic vision or moment, but in the simple awe of being able to see all the way down.

It made me wonder: how much in life is always there, always present, just waiting for me to be still enough to see it?

In Bhakti, there's a constant invitation to become more transparent less clouded by ego, emotion, or mental noise. The clearer the inner lake, the easier it is for Krishna to reflect Himself in us. But to reach that state, I have to stop trying to control the reflection. Just like the lake, I have to let everything settle.

Today was more than just a visit to a beautiful lake. It was a reminder to keep clearing space inside. To remain steady enough for the divine to show me what's already there hidden beneath the surface, yet completely real.
